Internet down? Before you call support, there are a few quick checks that can get you back online in minutes — no technician required.
Step 1: Check network status
The first thing to do is visit status.ubuntucore.co.za. If there's a known outage in your area, we'll list it there with updates. This saves you time logging a fault that's already being worked on.
Step 2: Restart your router
It sounds obvious, but a simple reboot resolves a surprising number of connectivity issues. Switch your router off, wait 30 seconds, then switch it back on. Wait 2 minutes for it to fully reconnect.
Step 3: Check your cables
Ensure all cables are firmly connected. A loose fibre cable or ONT connector is a common cause of sudden dropouts.
Step 4: Check your ONT lights
Your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) has indicator lights. If the PON light is off or red, there's likely a physical line issue and you should log a fault. If only the LAN light is off, try a different cable.
Step 5: Test on a different device
If one device has no internet but others work fine, the problem is with that device — not the line.
When to log a fault
If none of the above resolve the issue, log a fault through ClientZone or contact us on WhatsApp (071 883 5005). Include your ONT light status for faster resolution.
