If your mobile data suddenly stops working after inserting a new SIM card, the culprit is often a missing or incorrect APN setting.

What is an APN?

APN stands for Access Point Name. It's the gateway between your mobile network and the internet. Think of it as the address your phone uses to connect to your carrier's data network.

For AirMobile SIM cards (powered by MTN), use these settings:

  • Name: AirMobile
  • APN: internet
  • Username: (leave blank)
  • Password: (leave blank)
  • MCC: 655
  • MNC: 10
  • APN Type: default,supl

How to update APN on Android

1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

2. Tap the + to add a new APN

3. Enter the settings above

4. Save and select the new APN

How to update APN on iPhone

1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network

2. Enter "internet" in the APN field

3. Leave Username and Password blank

If your APN is correct but data still doesn't work, try removing and reinserting the SIM card, then restarting your phone. If the issue persists, contact support on WhatsApp.
